Rome

My idea of Rome was greatly shaped by the 1953 film, Roman Holiday. And apparently, my style, too! I recently rewatched the movie as part of my ECQ movie challenge and I realized that I unknowingly channeled Audrey Hepburn’s iconic look from the film in my outfit that day with my little neck scarf.

Our main agenda for this day was a tour of the Colosseum but that was still scheduled for the afternoon so we spent this cloudy morning exploring the city by foot. We saw most of the main sites of Rome in a couple of hours and still had time for a little shopping and some tiramisu. It was such an enjoyable walk. I like how everything is walking distance from each other. Even our gorgeous Airbnb+ was a 15-min walk to anywhere. Coming from a tropical country and a city where everything is a drive away, being able to see a city by foot and not breaking out a sweat the second I step out of air-conditioning will always be novel to me.

As luck would have it, Trevi fountain was closed off for maintenance cleaning. This worked to our advantage as we were able to take photos of the fountain without any people. But no coin throwing and wish making so we went back later that evening to do so.
